Royal Caribbean advertises its cruise ship stop and its own private island as the Perfect Day at Coco Cay.
The island has come a long, long way since Jay first visited it. Initially, the way to get to the island was by tender; small boats that shuttled from the ship to a dock area to move about 150 passengers at a time to and from the island. Today passengers get to the island by simply walking off their ship onto the substantial pier that has been built so that they can take a tram or simply walk to the entrance of the Coco Cay facilities.
Years ago Coco Cay was a very nice stop with snorkeling, beach, chairs, and umbrellas, and food provided by the ships crew. At that time there were also basic activities such as a long slide, volleyball courts, and opportunities to rent JetSki's.
Today, in addition to all that was there previously, there is a magnificent water park, many private cabanas, a Beach Club that serves lobster and filet mignon, and in many other ways fulfills as many of your beach day dreams as your pocketbook can afford.
Jay and Joyce opted for the Beach Club and had a nice time there. Yes, their lunch meal was lobster.
Jay and Joyce also visited another section of the island that had a walk-up pool bar and lively music, a place that Joyce's family had really enjoyed during their July 2019 cruise.
