Universal Orlando

February 19-21, 2016

We began by considering that Robert and his family might be able to come down for Presidents' Day weekend to Universal Orlando, but after looking at the prices, and with Robert's approval, backed up our fun for one more week.

That turned out well because the next weekend was when Anne was scheduled to come in for Rusty's sister's baby shower.

So Anne came in Thursday and was picked up by Sue, and left later that afternoon with me and Savanah, Seth, and Sydney for universal Orlando. There we met Robert and his family who had come in earlier from Alabama.

I did have some brief car problems on the way up, then I'm sure that I will never hear the end of, but we made it without too much of a delay.

We had a nice dinner at the Royal Pacific and then turned in so we could all be ready to go to the park early the next morning.

On Friday, after we got up and out, we still had to get our Fast Passes and also buy a ticket for Anne. But that all worked out well.

When in the park, our first destination was to the Harry Potter area to be able to enjoy the new attraction there. The ride was lots of fun and we completed our experience by buying Butter Beer. The rest of the day we enjoyed Universal Studios and all the rides and entertainment there. After a dinner of burgers and or Chinese food in the City Block area, we returned to our rooms exhausted but still-for a few of us-summon the energy to go down and visit the pool and the hot tub, just to say that we did it.

The next morning Anne returned to Tampa for the Saturday Baby Shower and the rest of us headed towards Universal's Islands of Adventure where our first stop was again at the Harry Potter area. We had another great day at the park, again including lunch there. For dinner Robert and Sandra ordered pizza that was delivered to the room, and it was good.

The next morning, Sunday, we had to pack up out of the hotel and we did that without much trouble, still being able to take the water taxi into Universal Studios and arriving before the park opened to "regular" visitors. We got to again take some rides that were fun from Friday and also take some rides that we missed that day. Again, it was lots of fun, but all good things have to come to an end at some point, and by early afternoon we were all thinking of getting back home, especially Robert and his family who had an 8-hour drive.

We did get some good news. We learned that to upgrade our three days worth of tickets to an annual pass was not much money, so we did so. So now we are thinking about when we can next go back and have more fun at that great theme park.
