Sometime around the date of Savanah’s 16th birthday on March 27, 2016, I asked her to give me a list of things she would like to do to celebrate this milestone event. The first thing on that list was Discovery Cove, a SeaWorld attraction in Orlando. Discovery Cove is an all-inclusive attraction; your admission includes free parking, a free breakfast buffet, a free lunch buffet, free snacks during the day at times of your choice, the use of a wet suit, the use of a water vest (lighter and not so hot as a wet suit), a snorkel and mask, towels, and suntan lotion.
Participants can swim in a warm water lagoon that includes a lazy river, can swim in a cooler (about 74°F) lagoon that includes all types of fish and raise, and - for an additional fee - swim with the dolphins. Although expensive, it has to be on everyone’s must-do list for Orlando. We did not tell Savanah that we were going to Discovery Cove. We told her that we were going to Aquatica, a swim park, and she only learned about Discovery Cove as we turn into the attraction. The admission also included a 14 day pass to SeaWorld, and we actually left Discovery Cove a bit early and took in some of the SeaWorld attractions including their new roller coaster and the Shamu show. Yes, Savanah loved it. |
