Carnival Cruise

Four Days to and from Cozumel

Bonnie and I celebrated her birthday this year with a Carnival cruise to Cozumel aboard the Sensation. We enjoyed everything about the trip. As usuual we had our stateroom on the Riviera Deck. Riviera must be Spanish for "one deck above the boiler room" because to get to the Lido Deck where there was the buffet line it was about forty flights of stairs. On the other hand, maybe that was good. The ship had been remodeled to add a swimming play area with a large slide on the stern. We had a nice cabin and cabin attendant, and for dinner had our own table-for-two, which was great. We sat near a gastroenterologist from Orlando who was taking his entire staff on a "thank you" cruise. Must be nice. Our head waiter and his assistant were also great and we enjoyed all our dining experiences. At Cozumel we signed on for one of the tours, the ATV Jungle Adventure and Snorkeling Tour. The day was a bit rainy but we were out there throwing mud ten feet up in the air as we drove through the puddles on the trail so that didn't matter at all. The snorkeling part was so-so but it helped wash some of the mud off of us. All-in-all it was a very good time. Our trip occurred as the Tampa Bay Rays were playing Boston in the American League Championship Series, and we must have spent ten of our cruise hours watching the series. A Tampa win made it all worthwhile.
