San Francisco

February 18-22, 2019

Jay and Joyce travelled to San Francisco and back for five days of sightseeing and fun. Travel to city was complicated by two different planes having mechanical problems that resulted in jay and Joyce getting into San Francisco, not by plane as planned, but by BART from Oakland, and a city trolley car, and a short walk. The good news was with all that, they arrived at their hotel not much later than originally planned.

The next day Jay and Joyce walked through Fisherman's Wharf with its shops and restaurants ... and sea lions; then took the Hop On Hop Off bus tour of the city which was fun. The day included a Hop Off at ChinaTown and a nice lunch there.

Wednesday was a tour of the Sonoma and Napa Valleys for sightseeing and wine tasting. While it was too early for the grapes to be blossoming, the countryside was impressive and the tour guides at each winery were very interesting. Jay had been carrying bread around d for two days and it finally got used to feed the fish at one of the stops.

Thursday was cable car day followed by a trolley ride to Pier 1 and a ferry ride across the bay to Sausalito where Jay and Joyce ate at a magnificent Italian restaurant, Foggio’s. After a small walking tour of the town it was back across the bay, this time to the pier near Fisherman’s wharf where it was just a short walk to the hotel.

Friday was the trip back to Tampa, uneventful, but a long day. A good trip.
