Robert Earns an MBA from Georgia Tech

Georgia Tech University
December 15, 2017

While Robert was with Charter Bank, headquartered in West Point, Georgia, he had to opportunity to apply for and attend the Georgia Tech Executive MBA (EMBA) Program.

This program was funded by Charter Bank, a very nice benefit of employment there.

Robert's program began in August 2016 and continued through December 2017. Classes were Friday evenings and all day Saturday thre weekends a month. The program included a two week trip to China.

What are some of the differences between an EMBA and a traditional MBA?

  • An executive MBA is tailored for experienced managers and executives and offers a deeper dive into business strategy and leadership.
  • Most EMBA programs require a minimum of 7-10 years of work experience, while Regular MBA programs usually require at least 2-5 years of experience.
  • Perhaps the biggest difference between MBA and Executive MBA programs is full-time MBA students have full-day, intensive schedules, making it tough to maintain a job outside the program, while an EMBA program allows professionals to learn while they focus on their jobs simultaneously.
  • EMBA programs focus more narrowly on leadership and skill development for seasoned business professionals, while MBAs normally provide a more well-rounded business education with specialization opportunities.

Congratulations to Robert for accomplishing this valued and respected educational milestone while still performing his duties as a husband and father, and for concurrently doing his work with Charter Bank!!!
