In December, Jay traveled to the Pittsburgh area to visit his Uncle Don who lives in Glenshaw, a small town to the north of the city. Jay had not seen Uncle Don in a long, long time and just wanted to check in with him to see how he was doing, especially since Don had lost his beloved Carolyn 11 months before. Don seem to be doing mostly okay, getting around his house well, having recovered from a fall that hurt his hip. That's important, since his house has stairs from his basement entryway up to his living area, kitchen, and bedroom. Over about 2 1/2 days Don took Jay on a tour of Beaver Falls and Ellwood City, visiting the places where Don grew up and the cemeteries where many Bradens lay in final rest. Jay also got a chance to meet cousin David whom he had not seen since the day he was married, about 16 years previous. It was a good visit. |
