Cruising the Bahamas

Majesty of the Seas
Nassau - Coco Cay
December 27-29, 2017

What do you do to work off all that good and plentiful Christmas food? The answer is that you go on a 3-day cruise where food is almost as good and more than plentiful.

And was for the Bradens of Valrico (Jay and Joyce), the Alvarez family also of Valrico (Karen, Cathy, Skyler, Braden, and Daylin) and the Bradens of Alabama (Robert, Natalie, Benjamin, Everett, Charlie, and Luke).

Our first stop was Nassau. The time in port was not long so we had the required tour of the Straw Market, and then ate some conch fritters in a local shop.

Our next stop was at Coco Cay, Royal Caribbean's provate island. (Ed note: This was before the massive upgrade to the island's pools and playgrounds, and before ship passenger could get to the island via the large new dock.) It was a fun place for swimming, playing on the beach, and eating the lunch delivered from the ship.

One of the fun things was getting some bread from the buffet and taking it into the water to feed the fish. If you are ever not feeling too popular, take a double handful of bread into some water where there are a lot of fish. This was greatr fun until the Lifeguards pointed out that feeding fish could also attack some of the kinds of fish where people would be the food. They had a point, so we found other things to do.
