Anne's Rule of Order
(at Florida State University)
On selecting a major. Nothing is more important than selecting your major. It is a significant event that shapes your college life and your future, and is a decision that warrants the utmost perspicacity and diligence. Anne, now in her seventh major, can testify to the importance of this endeavor.
On grades. Any bad grade is not the fault of the student but is a reflection on the teaching competence of the instructor. If all the instructors were good, grades would be good.
On good instructors. Good instructors are the ones who are easy graders.
On dating. Long distance relationships are best because they make good stories for friends and family and can be broken off easily if required.
On personal hygiene. Having clean clothes to wear is very important; having dirty clothes is a good reason to visit Mom over the weekend.
On sorority activities. They are next in importance to studying and school work ... unless there are some sorority activities to do.
On FSU Football. We're number 1!!!!!
On getting dressed up for class and other major events. What?
On tips to keep your dorm room looking neat and clean. What?
On how professors demonstrate special care and understanding for each and every one of the 1,500 students in the lecture. What?
On establishing a regular schedule the includes getting up by noon each day for lunch, additional studying and calm reflections. What?
On finding a way to get some extra cash. Ask Dad for some bucks; then ask Mom; then ask Dad again. Timing is everything. Working extra hours at the job is for losers who can't successfully "work" their parents.
