A Paving Stone Walkway by Armstrong

One of the projects Mom and I worked on over the last three weeks is a small paving stone walkway that goes down the side of the house to our fenced-in storage area where we keep our trash cans and recycling containers.

We used 52 paving stone blocks, each weighing 34.5 pounds. In order to place the walkway we figure we moved each block a few times:

  • Once from the Home Depot shelf to our cart
  • Once from the cart to the car
  • Once from the car to the ground near the pathway
  • Once onto the pathway for initial placement
  • At least once, often twice or more off the pathway to do more leveling
  • At least once, often twice or more back onto the pathway.

Let’s just say, very conservatively, that we moved each paving stone seven times.

The math: 7 moves per stone x 52 stones x 34.5 ponds per stone = 12,558 pounds.

WE MOVED MORE THAN SIX TONS OF STONE IN PUTTING IN THE WALKWAY!!!
