Following the wedding of Shaun Dunn to Victoria Caldwell, Karen flew from Norfolk back to Tampa while Jay and Robert caught a flight back to Atlanta so Jay could spend a couple days with Robert and his family in Lagrange.
While there, Jay got to see how the twins: Alice and Thatcher, had grown. He got to be with Robert and Natalie while the twins had tubes placed in their ears.
He got to see Luke and Everett play soccer. He got to see the Montessori School's Music Performance Festival highlighting the singing and instrument playing of a number of the students, including all of the older Braden Boys. He got to help build a ladder up a tree that might be a possible tree house location. He got to see the newly constructed Pool House (Neat!) and the remodeled upstairs bedroom for the boys with its bunkbeds and full bath. He also got to play family games and eat lots of good food.
While there Jay learned that Charlie and Everett were working on a school project where they had to report on an historical figure, but do the report as if they were actually the person. Everett had selected Steve Prefontaine (January 25, 1951 – May 30, 1975) who was an American long-distance runner who from 1973 to 1975 set American records at every distance from 2,000 to 10,000 meters. Everett, with Natalie's help, had a runner's outfit similar to the one shown in Prefountaine's picture on Sports Illustrated. Charlie had selected Davy Crockett and he had an outfit ready to wear. In addition to the information he would brief off a a tri-fold cardboard display panel, he decided that he would sing The Ballad of Davy Crockett. So for the two plus days Jay was there, it was Charlie practicing:
♬ Born on a mountaintop in Tennessee
♬ Greenest state in the land of the free
♬ Raised in the woods so's he knew ev'ry tree
♬ killed him a b'ar when he was only three
♬ Davy, Davy Crockett, king of the wild frontier!♬
Jay couldn't get that song out of his head for the next month! (Note: See below for pictures of Charlie and Everett on Presentation Day.)
Jay returned to Tampa thanks to Robert who dropped him off at the Atlanta Airport on Wednesday morning as Robert was on his way to a Chick-fil-A corporate meeting in Atlanta.
