Rusty's Ordination

Bell Shoals Baptist Church
September 13-14, 2014

Had a very nice weekend with Rusty and Anne and their many friends.

They were here for Rusty's ordination at the church. They flew in Friday night and had an appointment at 9 a.m. Saturday morning with the church's ordination committee. Both had done a great deal of preparation.

  • Anne went in first and their questions for her were pretty easy, and her time in the session was less than 15 minutes.
  • Rusty was next. They questioned him for the next hour and a half. Very difficult questions asking for Biblical references and analysis to support his answers. They wanted him to reference his positions and to describe personally and doctrinally why he held his views.
When I heard some of the questions they asked, it occurred to me that I would have had to ask either if I could come back in three weeks and answer the question or if I could phone a friend and hope that Charles Stanley would take my call.

As you might expect, Rusty did extremely well, and was told so by the Executive Pastor and some of the deacons who were in the room.

Saturday night we had a very nice get together for family and friends who expressed their praise for Rusty's performance. Of course they were not surprised.

Sunday at 6 p.m. was the Ordination Service and Senior Pastor Stephen Rummage presided and it was a beautiful ceremony. Rusty's presentation was the best. Afterwards there was a reception at the church. For both the service and reception there were many, many people present, and everyone certainly enjoyed themselves and were very complimentary about the program.

Rusty and Anne departed Monday on an early morning flight back to New Orleans.

A wonderful time.
