Independence Day 2022

Valrico, Florida

July 4, 2022

Jay and Joyce's 2022 Independence Day celebration began on Tuesday, June 28, when they decorated their door with a red-white blue wreath, their front windows with banners, and their yard with flags and similar patriotic items. Simple and not flashy, but well done in their opinion.

On Wednesday, June 29, they attended the Fellowship Baptist Church Freedom Festival.

On Saturday, July 2, they treated themselves the sushi at their favorite restaurant, Tsunami's. No, not much patriotic, but it sure was good eating.

On Sunday, July 3, they wore patriotic shirts to church and visited three of Joyce's long, long term friends at their homes, where Joyce gave each some patriotically decorated cupcakes and a red, white, and blue colored heart decoration.

And, with all that behind them, July 4 was actually a pretty quiet day. Good friend Lu Thompson came over to visit bringing a tasty vegetable platter and a pear pie which was equally good. Jay and Joyce added BubbaQue's St. Louis ribs, collard greens with bacon and smoked turkey, and corn on the cob. Good eating. And as the skies grew dark in the neighborhood they could hear people outside setting off rockets and firecrackers; a good way to end the day.

Happy Birthday, America.
