Clearwater Marine Aquarium

September 2, 2012

The Warner Bros. movie Dolphin Tale is credited with bringing the Clearwater Marine Aquarium into a national spotlight. For example, in July 2006 attendance was only 9,302. In July 2011, even though only movie trailers being released to theaters, therer were 32,453 visitors.

In case you haven't heard, it was Winter's story that captured the world's attention. The baby bottlenose dolphin's tail got caught in a crab trap in 2005 and she was brought to the aquarium's marine hospital for mending. It was there that one of the world's leading prosthetists volunteered to craft her a silicone tail.

You'll have to see the movie or visit the aquarium to get "the rest of the story."

For BradenClan, we rented the movie and showed it Saturday night, in preparation for the next day's visit to the aquarium. And our visit was great!!!
